WILKINS, Jonathan J.
"Jon" Class of 1972
Age 53, died Thursday, October 11, 2007 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Jon was born October 24, 1953, son of the late James H. and Ann Guinane Wilkins. He is also predeceased by an infant son, Jonathan James Wilkins. Jon is survived by his sons, Anthony J. Wilkins of Wilmington, NC with wife, Catherine, Gabriel J. Wilkins of Campbell, NY, and Bartholomew D. Wilkins of Gillett, PA with fiancée Erica Fitzwater; 5 grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Judy and Ray Bellows of Bentley Creek, PA, and Sandra and Dennis Crawford of Avoca, NY; former wife, Nancy Wilkins of Athens, PA; step-mother, Firmina Sweeney Wilkins of Pine City; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Also surviving are his life long friend, James Blake of Bentley Creek, PA, and his beloved canine companion, "Buster". Jon had a life long love of cars and worked as an auto body technician for a number of years. His sons inherited their dad's love of cars. At the age of 40 Jon returned to school and earned his Bachelor's and Master's of Science in Social Services from SUNY Binghamton. He spent many years as a Mobile Therapist in the Southern Tier of New York and the Northern Tier of Pennsylvania. His work, both on and off the job, was devoted to helping troubled youth. An avid outdoorsman, Jon enjoyed hunting and fishing. A doting grandfather, Jon loved to spoil his grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, corner of Water and Walnut Sts., on Sunday October 14, 2007 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 5:15 p.m. Interment will take place on Monday, October 15, 2007 at Woodlawn Cemetery at 12:00 noon.

BURNS, Michael J. "Burnzy"
New York State Correctional Officer
Age 53, of Race Street, Elmira, NY, passed away in peace surrounded by his loving family at home. Michael is the son of the late John Anthony and Irene Catherine Walsh Burns. He was born in Elmira, December the 31st, 1953. He's survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Dolores Wood Burns; son, Anthony Michael Burns; and daughter, Catherine Irene Burns, all of Elmira; his faithful canine companion, "Frank"; sisters, Barbara Snyder of Lowman, NY, Madeline Pabis of Elmira Heights, NY; brother, Paul Burns (Rose) of Elmira; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews; father-in-law, Donald J. Wood. In addition to his parents, Michael is predeceased by his brother, John Burns; and mother-in-law, Grace Wood. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY, Friday, October 5th, 2007, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, October 6th, 2007, at St. Mary's Church, 224 Franklin Street, Elmira, NY 14904, at 10:00 a.m. Graveside committal prayers will follow in the St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery. The Reverend Richard Farrell will officiate. Michael was a correctional officer for New York State. He was a devoted communicant of St. Mary's Church of the Southside. A member of the White Tail Buck Hunters Assoc. and was inducted into the Slow Pitch Hall of Fame. He will always be remembered as an avid outdoorsman and wonderful father who was ready for anything.
