Recent Obituaries   

FRUTCHEY,
Charles John "Jack"
Age 82, of Miller Street, Elmira, NY, passed away Wednesday, June 17th, 2009, at the St. Joseph's Hospital. He was the son of the late Alonzo and Lillian Conners Frutchey and was born in Sayre, PA February 4th, 1927. Surviving him is his children, Christopher (Theresa) Frutchey of Elmira Heights, NY, Todd Frutchey of Sayre, PA, Mary Alice (Ross) Eckert of Lewiston, NY, Lorrie (Jerry) Devine of MD; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sister, Pearl (Kenneth) Conklin of Horseheads, NY; brother, Louis (Fran) Frutchey of Ocala, FL; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jack is predeceased by his son, Charles John Frutchey II in 1983; and many brothers and sisters. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY Saturday, June 20th, 2009, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Funeral and committal services will follow the gathering hours at 4:00 p.m. Pastor Dwayne Arnold will officiate. Graveside services will be held at a time convenient with the family in the Woodlawn National Cemetery with full Military Honors accorded, to honor his dedication and personal sacrifice during World War II. Jack was proud to be an Army veteran of World War II. He was stationed in Germany, guarding captured Nazi officers at a German prison camp. Jack was a Lieutenant for the Southport Volunteer Fire Department for many years, and retired from the United States Postal service after 39 years of service.  Those wishing, please make memorials in Charles John Frutchey's name to an animal shelter of your choice.
Our hearts and Prayers are with the family and friends of Mary Alice (Frutchey) Eckert (Class of 72) with the passing of her Father.
